As we have mentioned before, our reviews will be mainly about the food not the decor or atmosphere of the restaurant, but I'll tell you a little about what to expect.
The place is huge and could seat a lot of people. They even have a dining room downstairs. We arrived around 11:15 and were the only people in the restaurant. Had we arrived an hour or so later and were the only ones in the place, I would have been a bit disturbed. I'm not a prophet, but I probably could have predicted that the food was not gonna be delightful. At about 11:30, it started to slowly pick up steam and by the time we left, the engines were roaring. This was a good sign.
Our server promptly greeted us and took our drink order. I didn't get her name, but overall, she was a pretty good server.
My boss ordered something she's had before - Chicken, Double Cheese Nachos. I'd never heard of such a thing. Double cheese? The other layer is on the bottom. The chips are swimming in a pool of cheese.
My first vision was of Meg Ryan in the movie French Kiss.
'Oh my, she's gonna have a date with the bathroom tonight.' Actually, I'm sure she'll be fine - I hope.
My second vision was of a search and rescue mission. We're gonna have to send in a rescue swimmer to find the chips.
When the nachos came, they actually looked pretty tasty. By the way, this is the half order. She ended up taking about half of the half order home.
My co-worker Jenond ordered something from the lunch menu.
For about seven and a half bucks you can pick two items.
She picked the taco and beef enchilada. Looks pretty toothsome if you ask me. She confirmed my assumption. It was delicious.
Last but definitely not the least, my dish. Like Jenond, I also ordered from the lunch menu. Did I mention that you get two items for about seven hundred and fifty pennies? Just making sure.
I committed myself to the chicken enchilada and tamale. Wait... There are three items on my plate!
'Excuse me miss, but I only ordered the chicken enchilada and tamale.'
'Yes sir you did. Our tamales come in pairs.'
Oh my, twin tamales. I felt like I was the first and only person allowed in Wal-Mart on Black Friday.
I'd hit the jackpot. This was turning out to be a good day.
My honest review of Ricardos Mexican Restaurant:
The prices were pretty good. On a scale of $ - $$$$, I'd give the average cost of the entrees $$
The taste of the food was actually pretty good as well. They love to use cheese. As you can see from the photos, even my tamales are covered with cheese. Don't misunderstand me, I like my share of cheese.
If I had one thing negative to say about the food, and really I only have one thing - don't put cheese on my tamales. Had I known it (or THEY) would come camouflaged in cheese, I would have told our server to leave it off.
So... Ricardos is just one example of our many good restaurants in Tulsa.
