In The Raw Sushi Restaurant

6151 S. Sheridan Road Tulsa
For all of you sushi lovers out there, there is this place called In the Raw Sushi Restaurant that sits atop a hill at 61st & Sheridan.

They also have an In The Raw at 33rd and Peoria.

This is one, of just a handful of sushi restaurants in Tulsa.

We were thinking about going to a sushi restaurant we'd already been to a few times, but opted instead to try In The Raw.

Remember in my very first post, I mentioned that people tend to stick to just a few restaurants and rarely venture to a new eatery? Well, we almost fell head first into that division. We almost took our own two cents and threw it in the outhouse.

But we didn't, so on with the review - people.

Let me be the first (or the last) to say, that this restaurant probably has one of the best views in Tulsa.

We got to witness a pretty incredible sunset.

Listen up fellas... If you're looking for a romantic place to take your girl, this would be a good choice. Just make sure she likes sushi. Otherwise, you'll use one of your sunsets for not.

We ordered three rolls:

  1. The New York Roll: shrimp, avocado and cucumber rolled in sesame seeds.
  2. The Candy Roll: Shrimp, snow crab, avocado, spicy sauce rolled in sesame seeds.
  3. The Restless Ribbon Roll: Shrimp, salmon, crab, avocado rolled in sesame seeds.
When the rolls were delivered to our table, my first thought was - wow that's one ginormous sushi roll. But, then I realized all three rolls were put on one plate.

They all looked the same, except for what was inside. This was a bit of a let down.

We've been to a lot of sushi restaurants, but this was the first time triplets were delivered to our table.

The only difference were the personalities. They were all wearing the same boring clothes.

It may be all psychological, but I like my sushi rolls to look different. Dress'em up and make them look pretty. They obviously spent much time making the decor look great, but if only the same effort went in to making the rolls look just as good...

I hope the more expensive rolls are dressed a little fancier.

The taste of each roll was just - okay. The candy roll was supposed to have a spicy sauce - didn't taste it. The other two tasted basically the same.

Now on to dessert. We ordered up the New York Cheesecake.

Oops... Who ate our cheesecake! We did... I forgot to take a picture before we dove in head first. It was absolutely delicious.

If only they put that much thought in to making some of their lower priced rolls look and taste just as good.

Our Honest Review of In the Raw Sushi Restaurant:

There are definitely better sushi restaurants in Tulsa. If you go to In The Raw, you will get what we consider mediocre sushi. If you want a beautiful view, and don't mind colorless, vanilla sushi, then go. You won't be too disappointed.

Tip: In The Raw has happy hour Monday-Thursday 5-6:30. They advertise five rolls at half price. This would be the best time to go if you're wanting to try this restaurant for the first time.

  1. I love your post. I'll try looking for a sushi place right now and get some sake, too. I like traditions, wink!

  2. I went here once and thought it was really good (but still overpriced) I wish I could remember what I ordered! I do remember getting wontons though, and thought they were amazing but at the time they were the only ones I'd had... so who knows.

Parking was HORRIBLE. I drove around at least 5 times trying to find a spot.
